Ali and Richa released a joint statement on September 29 via an audio recording on Instagram, in which they discussed how they "officialized" their union in 2020 but had to postpone celebrating it because to the epidemic. Before Ali added, "Like the rest of the nation, we too were struck by personal catastrophes one after the other," Richa stated in the opening of the note, "Two years ago we finalised our union and just then the epidemic attacked us all." The pair previously held their wedding parties and receptions in Delhi and Lucknow, and they will now host one on Tuesday night in Mumbai. Several of their Bollywood coworkers are rumoured to be in attendance at the reception; names on the guest list include Ayushman Khurana, Vicky Kaushal, Vidya Balan, Huma Qureshi, Karan Johar, Sanjay Dutt, and Taapsee Pannu.

The official statement from their spokesperson regarding these activities reads, "They wanted to commemorate both their Punjabi and Lakhnavi culture. Their ceremonies' specifics were carefully chosen to reflect both their personality and their ancestry. Additionally, heirloom jewellery and a specially constructed trousseau, which included a saree made to depict their love story, were used in the clothing design.
