India's first solar mission is designed to research solar winds, which can create auroras, a prevalent kind of disruption on earth.

The solar mission comes after India defeated Russia late last month to become the first nation to set foot on the moon's south pole. Despite having a more potent rocket than Russia, India's Chandrayaan-3 outlasted the Luna-25 to complete a flawless landing.

Aditya-L1designed to travel about 1.5 million km (930,000 miles)

Project director of Aditya-L1 Mission

Nigar Shaji, the project's director, told his colleagues scientists at ISRO that the launch of the nation's first solar mission, Aditya L1, on Saturday, was like a dream coming true.

It feels like a dream coming true, Shaji said in a statement to ANI on Saturday. I am overjoyed that the PSLV successfully inserted Aditya L-1 (into the intended orbit). Aditya L-1 has begun its 125-day voyage successfully.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its first solar mission, which carried seven payloads for a thorough study of the Sun, successfully on Saturday, marking a significant advancement for the nation's space research efforts.

Many experts praised the mission's successful launch as well as its significance for science and mankind. The project marks India's entry into solar system research from space. If it succeeds in reaching Lagrange point L1, ISRO will become the third space agency to station a solar observatory there, after NASA and the European Space Agency, according to Dibyendu Nandi, director of the Centre of Excellence in Space Sciences India at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata.
